INDIA POSTS — Direct Recruitment of Postal Assistants/ Sorting Assistants, Postal Assistant (Saving Bank Control Organization/ Foreign Post Organization/ Mail Motor Service/ Railway Mail Service) IN VARIOUS STATE’S POSTAL CIRCLE.

Qualification Required: Higher Secondary (10+2 ) pass with atleast 60% (For General Candidates) of marks with English as a Compulsory subject (excluding vocational stream). Atleast 55% marks required in case of OBC candidates and 45% marks required in case of SC/ST candidates.
Candidates must have studied local language of the State/ UT of the Postal Circle or Hindi as a subject at least in Matriculation or equivalent level.

Age Limits: Candidates must be within 18yrs to 27 yrs as on last date of application form, and Upper age relaxation is as per norms.

Pay scale: Rs.5200—Rs.20200 with Grade pay of Rs.2400 plus other allowances.

Cost of Application form: Candidates should collect the Application form at the concerned Post Office as per Circle/ Area at the cost of Rs.50/. Application form will be available for sale till 25/09/2012.

Examination Fee: Candidates have to pay the Examination fee of Rs.200/- in the Post Office of the Circle concerned to which the applicant is applying for the post. SC/ST/PH and Women candidates are exempted for Examination fee.

           Application Form is sold at a price of Rs.50 at all Head Post Offices and identified Post Offices in Tamilnadu Circle. The sale will commence from 11-08-2012 and close on 25-09-2012. There will be no sale of applications after 25-09-2012.

2. The vacancies notified are likely to vary /change without any prior intimation.
3. Scale of Pay: Rs. 5200-20200 with Grade pay of Rs. 2400 + admissible allowance.
4. Age Limit: 18-27 years; The Age limit is relaxable for Applicants belonging to Scheduled
Caste/ Scheduled Tribe Applicants  up to 5 years and for Applicants belonging to Other
Backward Classes up to 3 years and for Government servants up to the age of 40 years in
accordance with the Instructions or orders issued by Government of India from time to time.
Age relaxation for Ex-servicemen would be as per extant orders of government  of India
issued from time to time.

5. Educational Qualification: (i) 10 +2 Standard or 121h Class pass with at least 60 % marks
and above, from any recognized University/Board of School Education, Board of Secondary
Education with  English as a compulsory subject (excluding vocational streams) for OC
candidates, 55 % and above for Other Backward Classes and 45% and above for Scheduled
Castes/Scheduled Tribes shall apply.
(ii)  Should have studied local language of the State or Union Territory of the
Postal Circle concerned or Hindi as a subject at least in Matriculation or equivalent.
6. Pattern of Examination:- The Applicants shall be subjected to an Aptitude Test
with a total 100 marks covering the following subjects/topics. Aptitude Test (PaperI) will be comprising following four parts (A/B/C/D).  The total duration of the
Aptitude Test will be 2 hrs (120 Minutes). There is no negative marking.

6.1 Computer/ Typing Test (Paper-II): The Typing Test shall be for a duration of 30
minutes (15 minutes each for Typewriting and data entry) consisting of one passage
of 450 words in English or 375 words in Hindi to be typed with a minimum speed of
30/25 words per minute respectively & Data entry of some figures and letters each
carrying equal marks on Computers. The typing test and test of data entry operations
will be conducted on Computer key board but not on type writer.

How to Pass Post Office Savings Bank Aptitude Test


Syllabus for Savings Bank Aptitude Test

Paper - I

Note:- The examination will be held with the aid of books approved by the department. All the questions will be objective type with four options. The candidate has to choose the correct option as per his knowledge and quote the rule from the books approved for the examination to support his/her decision.

Eligibility Criteria:- All Postal Assistants who have completed one year’s service on 30thJune or 31st December of the year in which test is conducted shall be eligible to appear. Test will be conducted twice in a calendar year i.e in the month of February and August. Candidates who have completed one year’s service as on 31st December shall be eligible for appearing in the test to be held in February and those who have completed one year’s service as on 30th June shall be eligible for appearing in the test to be held in August. There will be no restriction on number of times a candidate can appear.

Setting up of paper and venue:- Test will be conducted by the circle. Date, time and venue will be decided at circle level and circulated at least 30 days before the scheduled date. Setting up of paper will be done at the level of Postal Training Centre. Chief Postmaster General of the circle shall decide the name of Postal Training Centre from which the Paper will be got set. A blank line is required to be provided after 4 options in each question to mention the Rule in support of the answer. Evaluation of the papers shall also be got done from the same PTC. Result will be declared by the circle. Successful candidates shall be posted in the branches pertaining to POSB/SC in post offices/divisional offices/regional offices and circle office. If surplus candidates qualified, a list of such candidates may be prepared in the preference of marks obtained in the test and they shall be posted in the SB/SC branches as and when required.

The cost of Application form is Rs. 50/- sale of Application forms will commence from 11-08-2012 and closes by 25-09-2012 in all Head post offices. Examination fee Rs. 200/- is to be paid in ACG 67/UCR.
